Q: What is included in the registration fee?
A: The registration fee includes league fees, field grooming and maintenance costs, umpire costs, insurance and  a budget for tournaments. Additionally each team is supplied with catcher’s equipment, bats, batting helmets, practice softballs, and game balls. The uniform cost is NOT included in the registration fee.

Q: How much will uniforms cost?
A: The cost for a full uniform will be $50.  Player will be able to try on sizes and order uniforms during the March 3rd evaluations.  Uniforms are the same as they were in 2018 so players do not need to buy new uniforms if their old uniforms still fit them.  Players will also be able to purchase individual uniform pieces.

Q: What other equipment costs may be required?

A: Each girl is required to have their own glove, spikes and fielding mask. Even though, there may be some team helmets, it is recommended that they have their own batting helmet.

Q: How does the River Falls Youth Softball Fee compare with other associations?
A: The River Falls Youth Softball fee is very low compared to associations with which we compete.  We hope to continue to keep costs low with our fundraising efforts.

Q: Are there any work expectations for parents of players on Traveling teams?
A: Yes, parents are expected to volunteer with field preparation, concessions stands and fundraising.

Q: Who can participate in the River Falls Youth Softball Traveling Program?
A: Girls meeting the age and residency requirements wishing to participate in the traveling program will be given the opportunity to try out. Players must not be a member of another softball program whose participation would conflict with the River Falls Softball program.

Q: What are the Traveling program’s residency requirements?
A: Children who go to school within the River Falls District

Q: Are there any exceptions to the residency requirements?
A: Yes. If it is necessary to fill-out a roster for a team without enough River Falls participants, players from other communities may participate as long as it does not force a River Falls player off of a team.  We also cannot accept girls from neighboring communities who offer a traveling softball program.

Q: What are the  program’s age requirements?
A: The age of a player in the River Falls Youth Softball program is determined by the rules and regulations of the Tri County League.  Age cutoffs are January 1st.

  • Born in 2002 and 2003 16U
  • Born in 2000 and 2001 18U

Q: Will there be an 8U Team?
A: Our focus in 2019 is on growing the program at the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U levels.  As we become more established and more parents become involved, we may expand to 8U in the future.

Q: Who places players on the teams?
A: The River Falls Youth Softball Player Evaluation Committee is responsible for placing players on a team. Evaluators will not evaluate a team in which they have a child who is trying out.

Q: Will there be cuts?
A: Until we know final registration numbers, we do not know if cuts will be necessary.  It is our hope to have as many girls playing softball in River Falls as possible, without creating teams that are too large to manage.

Q: What level will the teams play?
A: This will be determined during the evaluation process.  The level of play will be decided based on the experience level of the girls who register.
